Selah Counselling - Time to Pause and Reflect
Addictive or compulsive behaviour is often used to cope when we become overwhelmed and there seems no other way to manage life. Change, even when we recognize it is necessary, can be challenging and takes hard work. Individual counselling can help you to change, heal and grow as a person. It offers personal support and guidance tailored to your unique circumstances and needs.
Whether it is your own addiction or someone else’s, we use an eclectic approach to give you an individual experience tailored to your needs. Therapeutic approaches including CBT, DBT, and EMDR can help address behaviours and the underlying trauma, grief and emotions that contribute to the addiction. Our goal is to empower you with the skills and resilience needed for lasting change.
Individual counselling can open opportunities to:
- Explore personal concerns
- Learn effective coping skills
- Make healthy lifestyle choices
- Maintain balance and personal growth
Addiction affects not just the individual but the whole family, especially the spouse or partner. Recovery tends to be most effective when partners work together to find solutions. It’s not about changing the other person—true change comes from personal choice and effort—but about understanding and supporting each other through the journey. We encourage couples to learn and explore together to strengthen their relationship and family life.
Utilizing Gottman Couples Therapy, you will learn to master recovery together and strengthen your relationship. Sessions are recommended for 90 minutes in length to allow time for both partner's to share together.
- Build communication skills
- Help resolve conflicts
- Deepen understanding for each partner
- Allow both partners to work on the relationship
In difficult times, Christians often rely on their faith. For many, having a counselor who understands and supports Christian values is essential. This connection can offer strength and guidance through challenging periods.
Selah Counselling is here to allow you to pause and reflect on your faith, values and strengths from a Christian worldview. Whether your concern is a spiritual conflict or you desire a Christian that understands mental health to share similar values and beliefs, Selah will work with you to meet your needs.
Christian counselling can help:
- Build your faith and turn to God in your crisis
- Affirm your Christian perspective and values
- Utilize prayer and invite God into the session and healing
- Use Biblical teaching to support your faith and life choices
